What should I wear to a varicose vein procedure?

Treatment such as EVLT or sclerotherapy is done on your legs, and afterwards you will wear medical compression stockings . Your clothes need to make both easy.

Bottoms

  • Loose trousers with a wide leg, such as track pants or linen trousers, or a loose skirt or dress.
  • Avoid skinny jeans, leggings or anything tight at the thigh or knee. They are hard to pull over stockings and bandaging.
  • If both legs are treated, choose something that goes on easily without bending and pulling.

Top

Any comfortable top is fine. In cooler months, bring a light layer; you may feel cool lying still during the procedure.

Shoes

  • Flat, closed, cushioned shoes that you can slip on, such as trainers with loose laces.
  • Avoid high heels and tight shoes; your feet may feel a little fuller after stockings go on.
  • You will walk right after treatment, so comfort matters.

Underwear

Wear comfortable underwear. The clinic will provide a gown or shorts if needed. LEDAS has changing rooms with shoe sterilizers and foot-washing sinks.

What should I bring?

  7. Phone and charger , and something to read while you rest.
  8. Hotel address written in Korean for the taxi back, if you are visiting.

What should I avoid on the day?

  • Lotion, oil or fake tan on the legs: they make skin slippery and can interfere with ultrasound gel, skin marking and stockings.
  • Shaving immediately before: if you prefer to shave, do it a day earlier to avoid small nicks.
  • Jewellery on the legs or feet: anklets and toe rings should stay at home.
  • Driving yourself long distances: it is better to have someone accompany you or use a taxi.

Treatment-day preparation – frequently asked questions

  • Should I shave my legs before vein treatment?

  • Do I need someone to come with me?

A guardian is not required at LEDAS, because treatment uses local anesthesia and you walk out the same day. Some people like company for reassurance or help with travel. Avoid driving long distances straight after treatment.

  • Will I need compression stockings on the day?

Yes. After treatment you will put on medical compression stockings, and the team will show you how to wear them correctly. If you were asked to bring a pair, bring it; otherwise they are fitted at the clinic. See the stocking guide.

  • Can I wear shorts after treatment in summer?

You can, but your stockings and possible bruising will show, and you should protect treated areas from strong sun while marks fade. Many people prefer light, loose trousers. Keep stockings on for as long as advised.
