What awards has LEDAS received?

Over more than two decades of varicose vein practice, LEDAS and its director Dr. Kim Byoung Joon have been recognized by the Korean government, the city of Busan and international quality organizations. The most significant are explained below, with what each one actually recognizes.

Prime Minister's Citation for Global Healthcare (2023)

This national citation, issued under the Prime Minister of Korea, recognizes contributions to global healthcare — bringing international patients to Korea and providing them with safe, high-quality care. For LEDAS it reflects years of treating patients from 37 countries and building a network of 12 remote consultation centers in 7 countries.

ESQR Quality Choice Prize (Stockholm, 2025)

The European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) presents its Quality Choice Prize to organizations for their commitment to quality management. LEDAS received it in Stockholm in 2025, becoming the first Korean recipient.

Grand Prize, Busan Medical Industry Awards

LEDAS won the Grand Prize at the 6th Busan Medical Industry Awards, which recognize institutions contributing to the development of Busan's healthcare sector.

Busan City commendation (2025)

Busan Metropolitan City commended LEDAS in 2025. The city has also designated LEDAS a leading medical institution for Busan medical tourism.

HiPex 2019 – innovative medical institution

At HiPex 2019 (the Hospital Innovation and Patient Experience conference), LEDAS was selected as an innovative medical institution for its patient-experience work.

Marquis Who's Who (2018)

Dr. Kim Byoung Joon was listed in Marquis Who's Who in 2018. He has also been selected as a “Good Doctor” of the Republic of Korea by MediTimes.

What other government recognition does LEDAS hold?

LEDAS has also been recognized as an employer and taxpayer, which says something about how the organization is run:

• Ministry of Employment and Labor: “Strong small enterprise” and “Youth-friendly strong small enterprise”.
• Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism: “Leisure-friendly company” and “Sports-friendly company”.
• Ministry of Gender Equality and Family: “Excellent family-friendly company”, plus recognition for gender equality in employment.
• Minister of Strategy and Finance: citation as a model taxpayer for transparent accounting.

Do awards mean better treatment?

Not on their own. Awards recognize organizations for specific achievements, such as quality management or service to international patients. They do not measure whether a treatment will work for your legs. What matters most for your result is an accurate duplex ultrasound diagnosis , a treatment plan that addresses every leaking vein and regular follow-up.

That said, external recognition can help you judge whether a clinic is well established and accountable. For a more objective measure of safety systems, look at accreditations such as JCI and KAHF and GHA , which involve regular on-site surveys.

How should I use this information when choosing a clinic?

1. Check that accreditations are current and give dates.
2. Ask who will perform your diagnosis and procedure, and about their training.
3. Ask which treatments are offered and why one is recommended for you.
4. Ask how follow-up works after you return home.
