How much does varicose vein treatment cost in Korea?

LEDAS publishes two guide figures so you can plan before you travel:

  • Initial visit: 180,000 KRW. This covers your consultation with the specialist and a duplex ultrasound of your leg veins. See first visit and ultrasound fee .
  • Treatment: about 5,500,000 KRW per leg on average. This is an average, not a fixed price. Your own total depends on what the ultrasound finds.

Prices at other Korean clinics vary, and each clinic decides what its fee includes. When you compare, ask what is actually covered and whether follow-up is part of the plan.

Why can't you give me an exact price before the ultrasound?

Varicose veins look similar on the surface, but the causes underneath differ a lot. Two people with similar bulging veins can have very different problems: one may have reflux in a single saphenous vein, while another has reflux in both the great and small saphenous veins plus several perforator veins hidden between the muscles.

The duplex ultrasound shows which veins are leaking, how far the reflux runs and how large the veins are. Only then can the doctor decide which methods you need and how much work is involved. Quoting before that would mean guessing, and guesses lead to surprises. Learn more about the duplex ultrasound exam .

What affects the cost of treatment?

Stage of the disease

Varicose veins progress through stages, from spider veins to swelling, skin darkening and ulcers. More advanced disease usually needs more treatment. See varicose vein stages .

Number and type of veins

The main refluxing veins are usually closed with EVLT . Hidden leaking branches are treated with duplex-guided sclerotherapy, and visible smaller veins with sclerotherapy. The more veins involved, the more work.

One leg or both

The guide price is per leg. Many people have reflux in both legs. Read about treating both legs .

Recurrence after earlier surgery

Veins that come back after previous treatment can be more complex to map and treat. LEDAS runs a re-operation clinic for these cases.

What else should international patients budget for?

The clinic fee is only part of your trip. Plan for:

  • Return flights to Busan (Gimhae International Airport) or to Seoul plus the KTX train.
  • Accommodation for the nights you stay. Treatment is outpatient, so you book your own hotel.
  • Meals, local transport and personal expenses.
  • Medical compression stockings if your doctor recommends a pair.
  • Travel or international health insurance, if you choose to buy it.

LEDAS coordinators can help with hotel and flight bookings and arrange an airport pick-up .

Does insurance cover varicose vein treatment in Korea?

If you are enrolled in Korean National Health Insurance, some expenses may be covered. Check with the LEDAS International Coordinator before treatment. If you have private or international insurance from your home country, coverage depends on your policy. LEDAS can provide medical documents in Korean or English for a claim. Treatment cost in Korea – frequently asked questions

  • How much is varicose vein laser treatment in Korea?

At LEDAS, treatment averages about 5,500,000 KRW per leg, and the first visit with ultrasound is 180,000 KRW. The real figure depends on how many veins need EVLT and sclerotherapy, so the doctor gives you an exact quote after the ultrasound.

  • Is the price per leg or for both legs?

The guide figure of about 5,500,000 KRW is an average per leg. If the ultrasound shows reflux in both legs, the plan and quote will cover both. Sometimes one leg needs much less work than the other, which is why the exact amount is only set after scanning.

  • Why is the first visit charged separately?

The first visit includes a specialist consultation and a full duplex ultrasound of your leg veins, which takes real time and equipment. That scan is the foundation of your treatment plan and your quote. Some people find after the scan that they do not need treatment yet.

  • Can the cost go up after treatment begins?

Your quote is based on the ultrasound findings. Ask your coordinator to explain what it covers and what could change it, for example extra sclerotherapy sessions found to be needed at a check-up. Getting this clear in writing before you start avoids surprises.

  • Are prices the same for Korean and foreign patients?

LEDAS publishes one guide price for the first visit and treatment. Korean National Health Insurance policyholders may have some expenses covered, so their out-of-pocket amount can differ. Foreign patients without Korean insurance usually pay the clinic directly and claim from their own insurer if their policy allows.
