What Your Varicose Vein Treatment Fee Includes

Quick answer: At LEDAS the first visit (180,000 KRW) covers your consultation and leg ultrasound. Your treatment quote, averaging about 5,500,000 KRW per leg, is built from the ultrasound findings and the methods you need: EVLT, duplex-guided sclerotherapy and sclerotherapy, done on a same-day ward stay. Always ask your coordinator to list exactly what your quote covers.

Is there a fixed varicose vein treatment package in Korea?

Some clinics sell set packages. LEDAS works differently: your plan, and therefore your fee, is built around what your ultrasound shows. Two people can both have "varicose veins" but need very different amounts of work. A fixed package would either overcharge someone with a simple problem or leave out treatment someone with complex reflux really needs.

That is why LEDAS gives a guide average of about 5,500,000 KRW per leg and an exact quote only after the scan. See varicose vein treatment cost in Korea .

What is part of the first visit?

The 180,000 KRW first visit includes:

  • a consultation with the specialist about your symptoms, history and goals;
  • a duplex ultrasound of your leg veins with Philips EPIQ Elite equipment, about 15–20 minutes, explained as it happens;
  • an explanation of the findings and, if treatment is recommended, a plan and quote.

More detail is on the first visit and ultrasound fee page.

What can a treatment plan include?

The LEDAS treatment system combines three methods. Your plan may use one, two or all three, depending on your veins.

EVLT (endovenous laser treatment)

A thin laser fiber closes the main refluxing vein from inside. LEDAS uses a 1940nm diode laser. See EVLT .

DGS / UGFS (duplex-guided sclerotherapy)

Under ultrasound guidance, a sclerosing foam is injected into leaking veins hidden between the muscles, which cannot be seen from the skin. LEDAS considers this a key step in preventing recurrence. See duplex-guided sclerotherapy .

SCT (sclerotherapy)

Injections close visible smaller veins, such as reticular and spider veins. See sclerotherapy .

What happens on treatment day?

Treatment is same-day. On the ward, the usual sequence is:

  1. Admission
  2. ECG (heart tracing)
  3. Pre-operation ultrasound to mark the veins
  4. Treatment: laser and injection therapy under local anesthesia
  5. Training on how to put on compression stockings
  6. Monitoring while you do walking exercises
  7. Discharge

What about follow-up and relapse prevention?

Varicose veins are a chronic condition, and new reflux can develop over time. LEDAS's relapse prevention program has three stages: initial treatment of the causal veins, intensive treatment of smaller vessels with re-examination, and long-term monitoring. Follow-up ultrasound is recommended every 1–2 years or whenever you are in Korea. Overseas patients receive preventive examinations and any needed treatment on each visit.

Ask your coordinator how follow-up visits and any further sclerotherapy sessions are charged in your case.

What is not included in clinic fees?

  • International and domestic travel, including flights and KTX tickets
  • Hotel accommodation (treatment is outpatient, so you book your own stay)
  • Meals outside the clinic and personal expenses
  • Travel insurance

LEDAS offers practical help such as an airport pick-up service and help booking hotels and flights. Pick-up is stated as free, although additional costs may apply in some cases, so confirm with your coordinator.

Questions to ask about your quote

  • Which veins and which methods are included?
  • Is it for one leg or both?
  • Are compression stockings included or bought separately?
  • How are check-ups and any extra sclerotherapy sessions charged?
  • Which documents will I receive for my insurer?

Treatment fee – frequently asked questions

  • Does LEDAS offer an all-inclusive package?

LEDAS does not publish a fixed package. Treatment is quoted after your ultrasound, because the number and type of leaking veins vary from person to person. Ask your coordinator to list clearly what your quote covers, including follow-up, so you can compare it fairly.

  • Is the first visit fee deducted from the treatment price?

The published information lists the first visit (180,000 KRW) and treatment as separate items. Ask your International Coordinator how they are combined in your case. Either way, the first visit has value on its own, because the ultrasound tells you whether you need treatment at all.

  • Are compression stockings included?

You are trained to put on medical compression stockings before discharge, as they help treated veins heal. Whether a pair is included in your quote or bought separately is something to confirm with your coordinator. See choosing and wearing compression stockings.

  • Will I pay more if my veins come back later?

LEDAS runs a relapse prevention program, and overseas patients receive preventive examinations and any needed treatment on each visit to Korea. Ask your coordinator how later check-ups and treatment are charged, so you know in advance. Read can varicose veins come back?
